Hey fancy pants lets decorate!


In this section we give you some hints and tips on how to decorate your sock creature using the decoration kits provided or by buying some 'bling' in our 'pimp your creature' section as well as using up bits and pieces you may have at home.

Why not theme your creature?
You could decorate your creature with a theme in mind. Why not create a 'Rock Sock Monkey' or 'Sailor Socktopus'
The possibilities are endless. If you have some sock creature ideas then share them with us by joining our facebook page and getting involved. We would love to hear your thoughts! Remember that once you have decorated your creature to upload a picture so that we can all see how magnificent it is!

Sock creatures ideas - 'Punk' or 'Rocker' themed creature

You can make you creature look like a 'punk' or 'rocker' by adding some simple accessories.
The best socks for this look are orange and black stripes, purple and black stripes or black and red stripes.

*If you had safety pins in your pack or have any at home you can give your creature some piercings in its nose and ears.
*By sewing a microphone charm into its hand or around its neck you can make it look like its just performed at Wembley!! (Charms are available in our pimp section)
*Give it some charm tattoos, how about a spider or gun charm sewn onto its arm?
* Sew some wool, ribbon or pipe-cleaners onto its head to create a funky mohican or some crazy hair.
*Give you creature a crazy face by sewing on odd buttons for eyes, or by sewing them really close together.
*Use some fabric or ribbon to create a bandana or sweat band around your creatures head or wrists.
*Use some red felt to make a tongue for your creature and sew it onto your creatures mouth as if they are sticking it out *Make your creature some 'emo- ish' clothes using bits of fabric and netting. How about a mini tutu or black net vest top?
*Use chain as a smile.

Sock creature ideas - 'Girlie' creature hints and tips.

To make your creature extra girlie here are some simple hints and tips.
The best socks for this are anything containing pink!!!

*Give your sock creature some sparkly earrings using sequins or beads.
*Sew a little bow to the side or your creatures head or on both feet.
*Make a cute little dress from fabric by cutting a rectangle shape and then cutting a hole in the centre of it for the head to fit through then sewing up the sides under the arms.
*Decorate the dress or top by sewing on sequins and beads.
*Give your sock creature some eyelashes, you can use false ones or use wool, ribbon or just stitch some on.
*Sew wool or ribbon on to the creatures head to create flowing locks.
*Add some 'bling' by sewing on some butterfly, flower, bow or handbag charms available from the 'pimp your creature' section. You could even turn these charms into jewellery by sewing them on as earrings or threading them onto ribbon to create a necklace.
*Why not use some felt and cut out heart shapes and sew them onto your creature, you can then decorate these with beads and sequins to make it sparkle.
*Give your creature some gorgeous red lips made from felt.
*Make your creature a super cute hand bag out of felt

Sock creature ideas - 'Sea' themed creature

As we live in Cornwall we love the sea, if the water inspires you to decorate your creature here are a few ways in which you can do it. The best socks for this look are blue and white or blue and pink.

*We have loads of sea themed charms for sale in the 'pimp your creature' section. Why not sew on some starfish, shells, shipswheels, mermaids or a fishy onto your creature?. (these look great on a socktopus' tentacles)
*Decorate your creature with sequins to give it a fishy look or create a mermaids tail.
*Give your creature a pirates eyepatch made from a piece of felt.
*Give your creature an earring like a pirate.
*Make a pirates bandana from a piece of fabric.
*Cover your creature in shiny ribbons, beads and sequins so it looks like a sea creature.
*Collect some shells from the beach and use to decorate your creature, maybe turn into jewellery.

Sock creature ideas - 'Hippy' creature

Fancy spreading the message of love? Why not create a hippy creature.
The best socks for this are the multicoloured ones.

*Give you creature long flowing locks by sewing ribbons or wool onto its head. You can then plait or decorate these.
*Cut out hearts and flowers from felt and sew them to your creature.
*Sew flower or heart charms to your creature. Butterfies are good too.
*Make your creature a cardigan from some fabric, decorate this with beads or sequins.
*Make some little round glasses from a piece of wire or some pipe-cleaners.
*Attach feathers to its head or hair.

Get your camera we are going on an adventure!

Once your creature is dressed and ready to go why not take it out on an adventure?
Some of our creatures have been to LA, New York, Paris and even snowboarding in Tignes!
It doesn't have to be that far away though, maybe a trip down to the beach or a day in the park?
Make sure you get loads of photo's and upload them for us all to see.
